What we collect
When you visit our website
- Messages you send us, such as emails asking for launch updates or support.
- Server logs recorded automatically by our hosting provider: your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. These are used to keep the site secure and working.
When you play SOVEREIGN
- Account details: your email address and, if you sign in with Google or Apple, the account identifier that provider gives us.
- Profile and gameplay data: your in-game name, firm, crew, stats, progress, items, in-game currency and the actions you take in the game.
- Information other players can see: your in-game name, firm and public stats, and any messages you send in game chat.
- Purchase records: what you bought, when, and the store’s transaction ID. Payments are handled by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We never see your card details.
- Device and technical data: device model, operating system, app version, language setting, IP address, and crash and performance reports.
- Support messages you send us.
We don’t collect your precise location, contacts, photos or microphone audio.
How we use it and why
UK data protection law requires a lawful basis for each use of your data. Ours are:
| What we do | Data used | Lawful basis |
|---|---|---|
| Create and run your account, save your progress and provide the game | Account, gameplay | Contract |
| Process, verify and restore purchases | Purchase records | Contract; legal obligation for tax and accounting records |
| Keep the game fair and secure, including stopping cheating, fraud and abuse | Account, gameplay, technical | Legitimate interests: a fair and secure game for every player |
| Fix bugs and improve performance | Technical, crash reports | Legitimate interests: a game that works properly |
| Answer your emails and support requests | Messages, account | Contract, or legitimate interests where you’re not a player |
| Send launch news and updates you’ve asked for | Email address | Consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
| Meet legal requirements and handle legal claims | Whatever is relevant | Legal obligation; legitimate interests |
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we’ve checked that our interests aren’t outweighed by yours. You can object at any time (see Your rights).
International transfers
Some of our providers are based outside the UK, for example in the United States. Where your data is transferred outside the UK, we make sure it’s protected by UK adequacy regulations (including the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, where the provider is certified) or by the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.
